Texas Senate Candidate Rick Noriega Leads Democratic Online Fundraising

HOUSTON, TX –U.S. Senate candidate Rick Noriega (D-TX) has raised $930,457 this quarter, attracting a broad base of grassroots support from an estimated 4,500 contributors in the last three months.  More than 75% of contributions came from in-state, signaling Texans' readiness for change. To date more than 9,000 have contributed to the Noriega campaign as momentum for his statewide campaign continues to build. Last week, a Texas Lyceum poll showed Rick Noriega within two points of incumbent John Cornyn. This is the third recent independent poll showing Cornyn's vulnerability.

During this quarter, while Noriega was on active duty for more than two weeks training his Texas Army National Guard unit for a 2009 deployment to the Middle East, his supporters – both online and  off – came together to launch the "fill Rick's boots" fundraising campaign, elevating him to one of the top recipients of online fundraising on the Democratic site ActBlue.com, where he raised $452,632 this quarter.  Noriega has raised more from the ActBlue.com site than any other Democratic U.S. Senate Candidate.
